Weekly Wrap-Up

Club,

Yesterday morning in Flushing Meadow Park, the Kickers Premier Team demolished NYPD in a 7-0 rout!  With this convincing victory, the Kickers Premier took control of the Over-30 division with 23 points (+18 goal differential and just 9 goals allowed).

The scoring started early and often; when in the 4th minute David James' square ball fond Ari Dolegowski alone on the six yard line for the redirect.  Five minutes later, D.J. hit a cross into the penalty area that was headed down by Joe Whiteman to Ari Dolegowski for the finish.  Eight minutes later, Richie passed to Neri who found D.J. down the right side- D.J's cross found Joe's head but this time, Joe would finish the job himself.  Five minutes after that, Neri found D.J. again and his strike was flubbed by the keeper for the 4th goal of the half.  Stu Kaiser and Matt Smith continue to have dominate games in the central defense, while Stern, Webb and Guiliano patrolled the midfield with grit, grace and deftness.

In the second half, Joe would find D.J. again on the right side and again D.J. found Ari (MVP) streaking in from the left side for the nice finish.  In the 65th minute, D.J. would find Andy Stern in the penalty area for his first goal of the season.  With ten minutes to play, Matt Smith would earn the PK.  Bryan Baracaldo (making his Over-30 debut) would convert for the 7th goal of the match.  NYPD would have a rare look at the goal but for FitzGerald it was an otherwise quiet afternoon, earning the 5th clean sheet of the season.

The Over-30's lost a tough one to the Rovers Regulars but maintain the second seed in the division, making for an interesting prospect of an all Kicker Final at the season end.

The First Team is currently in 6th place in the Western Division with 9 points, but the good news we have more points than Albania, Clarkstown and United F.C. (who we are yet to play).  We need to stay in shape over the winter break and we will look to do that with training sessions, indoor tournaments and some play in small sided leagues.  We need to start the Spring Season on March 11th with the same grit and determination we demonstrated in the last two matches of the season.  We have very good players in this Club and as long as we all come together and in shape to start the season, we will make some noise in the division and show the league that we are for real.

The Second Team is in 3rd place in the division, six points behind the division leader CPR (which we will play again).

There is the Cosmopolitan Soccer Indoor Tournament that will be played on March 4th at the SuperDome Sports Complex in Waldwick, NJ. if you are interested in playing, please let me know.  It will cost around $40 per player to be in the tournament.

If you are around for New Years Eve and still looking for something a little different, I am hosting a party in Time-Square in a private office building with a view of the ball dropping.  You need to bring your own food and drinks and arrive by 9:00pm to gain access into the building.  Once inside, let the party commence!

Also, to make a tax deductable donation to the "ProWorld Foundation's holiday fundraising campaign "give the gift of clean water," we are aiming to provide 250 families with Clean water this Christmas with their water filter project (just $5 goes a long way)" click here -->  http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=178361

Enjoy the Holiday's.
